UCC Induction Year 1
-
Phase 2: Group and Independent Activities
Once you have completed the induction day, there are a number of group and independent activities that we would like you to complete within the first three weeks of being a student at UCC. If you are on a part time course or an apprenticeship, these can be completed ideally within the first five weeks of study.
Essential activities include:
- Read the Student Charter
- Attend Library Workshop 1 where you will find out about the services provided by the library as well as how to locate books from your reading lists in the library using the library catalogue. We recommend you have access to your module guides which have your reading lists on and take some books out when you visit - don't forget bring a bag to carry your books home. This will be one of two workshops hosted the library. This will be organised by your Course Leader.
- Please ensure you contact us if you have not currently advised us of any disability or specific learning difficulties that may require reasonable adjustments (details on are on course specific slides).
- Complete independent eLearning activities from the Academic Skills Centre including Note Taking, Introduction to Academic Reading, and Time Management.
Optional activities include:
- Attend 'drop in' support sessions on campus with Eliza Bebb. If you are feeling in need of a little more help with anything to do with being a student at UCC such as understanding how to use our systems, knowing where to go for help and specific learning requirements we will either help you directly in the session or point you in the direction of someone that can help if we can't. Details as follows
- Monday 23rd September, 12-1pm, Room HE105
- Tuesday 24th September, 1-2pm, Room HE105
- Wednesday 25th September, 12-1pm, Room HE105
- Thursday 26th September, 1-2pm, Room HE105.
You will find a checklist below to help remind you of what activities you need to undertake in this phase and you can tick these off as you complete them. You might review these in your pastoral tutorials with your Course Leader too. Feel free to add your own activities to this checklist if you like.
