FdA Year 2 IT Solutions

Module Description

The aim of this module is to give students an appreciation of the nature of information and the types of information systems used in business.  It is also intended to equip students to produce an IT solution for managing and analysing information in a given context.  Module content will cover advanced features of spreadsheets that are useful for summarising and analysing data.  Students will be given the opportunity to analyse user needs in a given scenario and to produce a spreadsheet solution to manage and analyse the information to meet those needs.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students will be able to

1 Identify appropriate information systems for given situations and analyse the benefits that come from their use
2 Understand features of a spreadsheet relevant to managing information and analysing data
3 Analyse user information needs
4 Apply knowledge of spreadsheets to produce an IT solution to meet user needs
5 Critically evaluate and document an IT solution
