Module Description

In this module various theories of team development are reviewed. Evaluative skills will be needed in order to consider a range of project management tools used within the conference and events business. This module will allow students to work within a team to carry out detailed planning and preparation for a live event using project management tools. Students will effectively publicise events and draw up written procedures, risk assessments and contingency plans. Transferable skills such as interpersonal, self-management, effective oral and written communication will be developed. For example: working with others; identifying and proposing solutions to problems, managing time; being assertive and organising information.  The module makes use of skills such as those developed in the level C module ‘Administration for Business Travel and Events’.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students will be able to

1. Demonstrate skills to complete the administrative procedures required to organise, administer, prepare required documentation and evaluate a business event
2. Apply and critically evaluate project management tools
3. Estimate and monitor the costs of the human and physical resources required to run event.
4. Reflect on experience of working within a team
